🩸FEMGORE

In the summer of 2024, authors Charlene Elsby, Lindsay Lerman, and Elle Nash came together to host an atelier on the newly emerging concept of FEMGORE. Coined by Francesca Brown in Stylist Magazine, femgore is a rising tide of femme-centred transgressive fiction that harnesses language to bring forth the visceral, lived experience of pain, power, and ecstatic violence. This course, run by three powerhouse exemplars of femgore fiction, will take you through its beauty, brutality and range. Includes writing exercises you can try right now, in the moment.

In this course, we break down:

  • Transgression and authenticity

  • Predators and fempredators

  • Writing disgust

  • Emotional intensity

  • When & how to withhold or display violence on the page

  • The transformative power of pain
